Weather Warning

October 2017

Guernsey Coastguard is currently monitoring a low pressure system which is likely to cause severe weather conditions this weekend. Strong to gale force and severe gale force winds are expected from Friday and into Saturday from the southwest, then veering west or north west before reducing Sunday evening.

This weather is coupled with high spring tides in excess of 9m and anticipated significant swell and sea conditions. Head of Guernsey Coastguard, Captain Chad Murray said  "Islanders are reminded to take great care when at the coastlines and keep a safe distance from the sea to avoid being swept into the water. This is also a timely reminder for anyone thinking of putting to sea to think twice when adverse weather is forecast and be aware that conditions at sea can change very quickly".
