Guernsey RNLI Launched to Rescue Person Trapped On Cliff

At 1415 local time on 19th May 2020, Guernsey Coastguard received a call from a woman trapped on the cliff at Jerbourg Point on the islands' south coast.

Before full details of the woman's exact position could be established, communication was lost after she dialled 999 and asked for Guernsey Coastguard.

Both Guernsey RNLI lifeboats were launched and dispatched to the area to in order to locate the casualty whilst officers from Guernsey Police began a search from the cliff path.

At 1453 St Peter Port Inshore Lifeboat spotted the casualty waving from the area below one of the German bunkers at Jerbourg Point.

A crew member was landed ashore and was able to reach the woman and escort her back to the cliff path where she was treated for minor injuries by paramedics from St John Ambulance.

Both lifeboats arrived safely back in St Peter Port at 1520.
