North Beach Access Road is now open

The entrance to Guernsey's North Beach car park is now reopen, after four days of resurfacing work.

Guernsey Harbours contractors Tarmac Services Limited, managed to complete the work a day ahead of schedule and reopen the access road to traffic.

Guernsey's Harbourmaster Captain David Barker said:

"This has been a short but successful project, thanks to the efforts of our contractors, Tarmac Services, and of Guernsey Harbours and States Traffic and Highways Services staff who have planned and co-ordinated road traffic management during the project. This work was vital for maintaining access for St Peter Port harbour and North Beach car park in the years to come and we are pleased that it has caused minimal disruption, particularly during commuter rush hours. Following a pro-active public awareness campaign on our social media channels and the island's media, we are grateful that road users helped by heeding our advice whilst the work was being done."

The second phase of work, starting on Monday 26th November, will see port permit parking spaces suspended as the current road surface needs to be replaced on St Julian's Emplacement. Again, Guernsey Harbours is requesting port parking permit holders to park on the New Jetty whilst the work takes place for the next three days from Monday 26th November.
