Staycation offer at Victoria Marina for Bailiwick pleasure vessels

Bailiwick pleasure boat owners now have the opportunity to stay overnight in the Victoria Marina during this summer season.

The cost to boat owners will be £10 per night with a maximum stay of two nights under the offer that starts today (Friday 5 June). Shore electricity supply is also available at an additional £2 per night.

To take advantage of this staycation offer, boat owners will need to give Guernsey Harbours 24 hours' notice, giving details of the vessel and its occupants by filling in pdf icon this form [198kb] prior to their stay. Boat skippers should ensure that they comply with the current guidance on leisure boating and social distancing issued by the States of Guernsey's Public Health Services team.

Guernsey's Harbourmaster Captain David Barker said:

"Our visitors facilities are normally busy at this time of year, but the absence of visiting boats has allowed us to provide this offer to local boaters. This offer would ideally suit Bailiwick residents with a vessel that has sleeping facilities on board who are either visiting Guernsey for the weekend, or who require a central St Peter Port location. Social distancing measures should be observed on the pontoons and gangways where it is reasonably practicable to do so. We would also encourage all boat owners to continue to carry out good hygiene and disinfectant measures on board, and to minimise touching of public surfaces whenever possible. Guernsey Harbours has put on similar offers for local boat owners to stay in the Victoria Marina during public events in the past, such as Harbour Carnival, Liberation Day, and Proms on the Pier that have been taken up enthusiastically by local residents. We hope this offer will be just as well received."

Non-cash payments are preferred whenever possible. Payments can be made over the phone by calling the Marine Services Centre on 725987, on the water using contactless or chip and pin credit or debit cards when greeted by a Guernsey Harbours Dory vessel or a member of staff on the pontoon. At present, Guernsey Harbours' Albert Pier toilet and shower facilities are closed for essential maintenance so users of the Victoria Marina would have to use those on the Crown Pier instead.
