Journeys to the UK from within the within the Common Travel Area, including those from the Bailiwick of Guernsey, will be exempt from the new restrictions on people entering the UK announced by the Prime Minister.
Boris Johnson announced yesterday during his address to the nation that restrictions will be imposed on people entering the UK, in order to limit further transmission of the Covid-19 virus. Further detail has been published by the UK Government.
The UK Government will require all international arrivals to self-isolate in their accommodation for 14 days on arrival into the UK. There will be a short list of exemptions to those requirements. All journeys within the Common Travel Area, including those from the Bailiwick of Guernsey, will be exempt from the measures.
A date for the introduction of the UK's travel measures has not yet been confirmed, but the UK's government has advised that the measures will be introduced as soon as possible. It is understood that further details, and guidance, will be set out shortly and that the measures and list of exemptions will be kept under regular review.
There is no intention at this time to make any changes to the requirement for anyone travelling into the Bailiwick of Guernsey to self-isolate for 14 days regardless of symptoms or port of origin.
