Vessels Entangled at Rosaire Anchorage in Herm

At 03:00 local time on Thursday 25th July, Guernsey Coastguard received a call from 15m Norwegian sailing vessel 'Bianca' at anchor in the Rosaire Anchorage on the West Coast of Herm.

A French charter yacht had picked up a mooring close to 'Bianca' and their chains had become entangled. The charter yacht was unable to slip the mooring and 'Bianca' was unable to recover her anchor. The two vessels were colliding with one another risking damage.

After collecting further information and enlisting the help of the French Coastguard to aid in language translation with the skipper of the French charter vessel, the St Peter Port Lifeboat 'Spirit of Guernsey' was launched to assess the situation and to render assistance where required.

Arriving on scene shortly after 04:00, 'Spirit of Guernsey' was able to assist the vessels in untangling themselves and both vessels were moved to alternative mooring positions. No significant damage was caused to either vessel and no one was injured. the 'Spirit of Guernsey' arrived back in St Peter Port shortly before 05:00.
