Search for possible 'overdue' vessel called off.

The search for a vessel that submitted a traffic report to Jersey Coastguard at approx 23:00 GMT on Wednesday evening, 13 March 2019 for a passage to Guernsey was terminated at 15:10 GMT, Thursday 14 March 2019. However, the incident will remain open pending any further information.

An extensive search, co-ordinated by Jersey Coastguard, was undertaken by the Channel Islands Air Search Aircraft "Air Search 1" between Jersey and Guernsey as well as along the south and east coast of the Island. The search areas were determined using information based on the received traffic report and utilised search and rescue planning software taking into consideration wind and tidal modelling. Prevailing weather conditions during the search have been poor, with rough sea conditions and winds between 30-55 knots.

A range of enquiries have been undertaken over the past few hours, including broadcast action, information searches, checks of St Aubin and St Peter Port Harbours as well as along Jersey's west coast. No further information relating to the vessel has been received during this time.

Survivability criteria has been taken into consideration, including the current sea temperature and prevailing weather conditions.

Jersey Coastguard would like to express its thanks to the crews of "Air Search 1" for their assistance during this search.

Anyone who has any information relating to a vessel believed to be called "Delta Buoy" or "Delta Boy" are asked to contact Jersey Coastguard on 01534 447705.
