Filming and photography with drones

The use of drones is regulated by the Director of Civil Aviation. Many drones have cameras attached which could infringe data protection laws and security requirements.

The recreational use of SUAVs (small unmanned aerial vehicles) or drones as they are more commonly known, is not permitted on or over Harbour controlled areas at the ports of St Peter Port or St Sampsons. Due to current recommended flying restrictions for SUAV's this also extends to the seafront areas bordering both ports.

Commercial pilots who satisfy DCA criteria and have appropriate licences and insurances will be considered. Event organisers or drone pilots on behalf of the event should submit an application as part of the event.
